UNIT 1 : FRIENDSHIP
SPEAKING AND LISTENING
PERIOD : 3
I. AIM : Kiến thức phải đạt được .
Speaking :
- Describe the chacracteristics of a specific person
Listening :
- Listen and choose which statement is true or false.
- Take note aome main points from the tape.
II. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE : Kiến thức cần có.
- The simple present tense is used to describe and talk about a person.
- Many basic sentence patterns that are deliverd in the summer course.
- A amount of vocabulary is used for talking about personalities.
III. MAIN ACTIVITIES : Những hoạt động chính.
1./ Vocabulary : nội dung cần ghi chép.
Heigh: tall, medium, short…
Face: square, large, oval….
Forehead: broad, high…
Nose : straight, crooked ( cong )…
Hair : black, grey, blond…
Lips: thin, full, narrow, heart-shaped
Appearance : handsome, beautiful, good-looking
2./ Speaking :
Teacher gives students an example :
A: Can you decribe the man in the picture ?
B: The man is tall. He has got a square face, a crooked nose….
Students work in groups of 4 -5 members to describe a specific person that is in the picture. The allotted time is 5 minutes, after that teacher asks a representative of each group to go to the stage and make a presentation about the given one.
3./ Listening :
Teacher asks students to look quickly through all the statements and underline key words in each one.
Then, turn on the tape for students to listen 2 times.
Next, check the students’answers.
Students focus on the tape and take note
Then, Base on their listening, they do the statements.

Task 2 :
Lan and Ha : How and where they met ?
- They used to live in the same residential area in Hanoi.
- Lan went on a holiday to Do Son and Ha went there to visit her.
What they like about their friends ?
- Ha is very friendly and helpful.
- Ha is sociable. She has got many friends in Do Son and she introduced Lan around.
Long and Minh : How and where they met ?
- They met in college.
- Minh played guitar. Long was a singer.
- They worked together.
What they like about their friends ?
- Minh has a science of homour.
- Minh likes to go to plays and movies.
- Minh is a good listener,
- Minh is friendly and helpful.
III. HOMEWORK .
1./ Write about a friend, real or imaginary. Task 1 page 19.
2./ Look up the dictionary for the transcription of following words :
- Jam
- Joke
- January
- dangerous
- passenger
- village
- mutual
- church
- which
- children
- cheese
